Individual support for children & adolescents 5-17 years
This service supports children and adolescents to understand and manage challenging emotional/behavioural issues that are impacting on them at home, in school or in their relationships with others, such as anxiety, anger or other strong emotions; living apart from family members; bereavement & loss; parental mental ill health and educational stresses. This support is delivered by Social Care Workers generally on a weekly basis in Clarecare’s child/youth friendly spaces and/or in the child’s school or community.
Children can be referred by parents or agencies, with parent’s permission, for this service. Contact 065-6894200 or email fssreferrals@clarecare.ie for a referral form.
Individual support for adolescents 13-17 years who are at risk of early school leaving and engaging in high-risk activity
This service is for adolescents referred by Tusla Child & Family agency. It helps adolescents to explore making better life choices. It promotes enhancing their participation in education, reducing their risk of involvement in crime, developing effective life skills, increasing self-esteem and resilience. Sessions are generally delivered on a weekly basis in Clarecare’s child/youth friendly spaces and/or in community premises.
Child and adolescent counselling
This service is for children and adolescents referred by Tusla Child & Family agency. Using a blend of play therapy and cognitive behavioural play therapy, children and adolescents aged from 5-17 years are therapeutically supported to process difficult feelings that impact greatly on their lives. This may be due to having experienced trauma, family separation, bereavement/loss, attachment/adjustment issues and a broad range of emotional/behavioural difficulties such as anxiety/being withdrawn, hyperactivity, challenges with emotional regulation and selective mutism. The service is generally delivered on a weekly basis in Clarecare child/youth friendly spaces or in community settings.
